Frightened people scatter before a giant red eagle that terrorizes their Dakota village. This pen and ink image is from the upcoming book The Shooting of Red Eagle, soon to be published by Native Reflections Inc.

A fun and wonderful collaboration of skills from Sheldon Dawson and Lesly Dawyduk. Sheldon will take his bright, colourful painting and multimedia skills and combine them with Lesly’s skill with design, glass and light to reveal the mask! Sheldon recently completed two new paintings depicting the historical Metis figures Cuthbert Grant and Isabelle Branconnier Vandal. These images will be used as book covers for the latest edition of The Battle of Seven Oaks and the new release Times of Trouble published by the Louis Riel Institute.

Sheldon recently coordinated the publishing of a 28-page children’s book featuring artwork by the members of the Medea Gallery Artists’ Co-operative. A is for Artist interprets the alphabet through the creative vision of 24 Manitoba artists and introduces children to the world of original art.
